(wait, i'm not gonna lie, i might be one of the first original indie beauty brands online ...!) i am an artist. this has been my work since 2004. i love plants (especially roses, medicinal plants and wild flowers). i started with 'herbalism' and it evolved to this. if u put any of these items on ur body u are interacting with nature.  plant makeup is interactive nature art to enhance ur natural beauty. cause u'r already beautiful. xo -orangepeelmystic

Plant Makeup is unique artisanal apothecary formulated skincare handmade with 100% natural ingredients. Roses, flowers, roots, berries and herbs - everything created is inspired by a natural flow of energy to just be your natural you.

My plant based makeup is a bit different then regular makeup. It applies less pigmented on the skin compared to synthetic dyes or iron oxide derived colors. i made plant pigmented paints early on when i started studying plants and this totally inspired the creation of plant makeup. Plant based paints are lighter gentler paints compared to deep colored conventional paints. Plant pigmented makeup is totally a new thing as they provide light natural hues of color then dramatic bold color stains. A compromise to the modern - or new way of beauty!

2015 was super immersed in telling stories through photos with ingredients, products and nature. i had a uniform way for a huge part of the mid 2010s of using a white background and creating collages on top. By 2016 i had a mega skin care makeup line ...!

Almost every year since 2016 I have created a new collection for Plant Makeup. Here is the 2017 collection Lost in the Cosmic Sand Dunes:

2017 got attention! And also Plant Makeup was based in Hawaii for two months officially!! But it all started...

The journey first began in 2004 where I felt a true connection with plants in a medicinal herb greenhouse. I started making a line of herbal teas and slowly evolved to making a variety of beauty products and botanical fragrances. I started an Etsy shop in 2008 (known then as good4you -I had to restart the shop because Etsy wouldn't let me change the name) and everything evolved within and from there. I also gained a huge following on Tumblr when it was cool between 2010-2014. My Plant Makeup Instagram page has the best archive of photos and videos. This is plantmakeup.com 5.0 - a site continually revealing my inspiration from ancient beauty secrets using plant based dyes.

I have been launching new Plant Makeup collections every year with new exciting products. I love changing it up. Truly a reflection of where I am on the plant journey, more now I'd say the life journey! Like I kinda mentioned, my entire adulthood has been dedicated to this project.

i'm obsessed with. the 2024 plant. makeup. collection, inspired by playing over 150 OrangePeelMystic shows since dec 2021. i am truly thankful for all those I met during that era! a serious dream come true.

2025

In 2025 I have come back super hardcore into Plant Makeup. I have been doing this project (working with plants, starting with Good4You Teas) my entire adult life, so working on the OrangePeelMystic project was/is a much needed and continual inspirational journey.

This year I shifted a lot of focus into creating videos for Plant Makeup and bringing the aura of these cuties into a new era. It's so crazy to have evolved with the Internet. For me, the early 2010s was Tumblr where stories spoke volumes, then in 2014 with Instagram a picture meant a thousand words, now many years later Youtube and Tiktok inspire me to share mini visual adventures for each product. 

It's 2026!! Yay!

This year and since late 2025 I have been working on a new collection (I try to make a new one each year). Usually I start with conceptualizing ideas through dreams or actual requests from you all. Next I create tentative recipes, then start drawing the labels for products. Then I infuse and create them. I feel the color tone of this year is very calming so far so this new collection coming in Spring will reflect the purple color spectrum and unseen colors of wild flowers.

2026 has been so cool so far. I have been so inspired to be creating unique worlds and stories for my product videos. Honestly, some of them are so out there I don't know if they have a place anywhere, but I hope you enjoy them! Thanks so much for reading!!
